Hi there Smile

I've thought a little and I think the talking about other sites (related to typing) should be posted as resources in this topic.. to keep the order and logic of the posts Smile) Otherwise it's pretty hard to search for them when they are all over the place..

Well... I've seen the discussion about the typerighthing Smile It's pure russian Smile I never did any russian in school or anywhere else so it's impossible for me to understand what has been said Smile
Fortunately I have found a free site to translate webpages on-line between different languages and there was russian-english there too Smile
The translation it's perfectly understandable although there are some mistakes from time to time

Anyway, here is the site: http://www.online-translator.com/srvurl.asp?lang=en

Good and useful resource.
Russian is very hard to learn.
English language is much easier to learn.

Don't know if you guys now about this one... It's pretty popular although... it's the Typing World Championship Smile Unfortunately I didn't see my country on the list... and to list it I would have to speak with my college administation.. and they would have to supervise the typing when the contests take place (because it takes place on-line too).. you know.. (to eliminate cheating wich could be done by some people with some programming skills) The sad thing is that there aren't too much people interested in this in my city) I personally know just 1 Wink) and he's not even in my college.. Sad That's so sad... Anyway I've got along with the idea some months ago when I first hear of it.

Sensiblu, considering your energetical and effective help to inform more people about Urikor contests, - probably I should point you one more topic Smile

It's the idea of our Dron - 25 July to celebrate a Touch Typing Day - День Слепой Машинописи.
http://urikor.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=641

A very good idea to contribute to the popularization of touch typing in general...
Some festive online tournament in several cities, several countries...
(May be like "Romania team", for instance )))
Besides, it would be as to honour those people of earlier times, their brilliant achievements. Enthusiasm and professionalism of a highest degree, wasn't it?..

Smile
Well, fast and handy changing the tools in PhotoShop would be fantastically nice! (I mean - not to switch from the Russian alphabet to the English one and back again, for a mere "taking" another tool into your hand...)

I don't know what to say about the touch typing day... Well it looks like a good idea to me ... but I don't know too much touch typists... and I don't know any touch typists who would agree to this.. I mean most of the people who know how to touch type.. or type fast with an odd tehnique (3-6 fingers) don't take typing so serious and so enthusiatically as I do... They consider it a good thing but not a special thing... It seems like a good idea to me but I don't know about the others Neutral

Why I only had inform you Sensiblu, just because the subject is worth informing )))
I thought you may wish - or may not , that's all to your liking, isn't it, - to tell to other people somewhere where you have announced the Urikor championship earlier.
Closer to the date, there probably will be an announcement here at the forum - so anyone to make one's plans and decisions. By oneself, or by a group, - let it be as it would happen Smile

The main thing is that the idea seemed good to you.

Personally, I think it splendid if a group of "players" (even mere 2 or 3)) living in Moscow come together in a net cafe to type. It'll be, in a sense, already "Moscow" - not somebody by himself Smile

The article about touch typing in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touch_typing

Unfortunately it is very small and it needs additional editing. I've added there few words about July, 25 and Frank McGurrin - the inventor of touch typing.

http://www.salineschools.com/users/cavianij/Keyboarding%20Info/Keyboarding%20Index.htm

The site about the history of the keyboard. There are many interesting facts.

It seemed to me informative, nevertheless. "Touch typing" is a term of a "base" level. Source to a whole "cluster", so to speak (oh my English!))). In a sense, the term is too "easy" to be defined in a single article Smile

imho Your addings in the article are very to the point,
hope the admins won't delete (as they did with some addings before)
